Southern States Showcase Set to Air October 20

Norcross, Ga. - The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), which grew to sixteen member institutions on July 1, will add a new dimension in 2010, as the SSAC unveils its feature-based television show debuting on Wednesday, October 20 on SportSouth at 6 p.m. The “Southern States Showcase” will feature 18 thirty-minute weekly episodes on SportSouth (Fox regional sports network) reaching more than 10 million households. The show will air three times weekly across six southeastern states (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) beginning the week of October 18.

Mobile Men Run At Gulf Coast Stampede

PENSACOLA, Fla-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team turned in a 9th-place finish at the Gulf Coast Stampede Saturday morning at the Escambia County Equestrian Center. The Rams' top five runners turned in a combined time of 2:57:39 in the 8K run and accounted for 263 points, while the University of West Florida won the meet with a team time of 2:17:55 and 21 points.

UMobile Men Place 5th At Azalea City Classic

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team finished 5th at the University of South Alabama's Azalea City Classic Saturday morning. The 5k meet was held at the Gulf Pines Golf Course. West Florida won the meet with a time of 1:19:53.71 and 32 points, while South Alabama finished at 1:19:56.47 and 37 points in 2nd place. The Rams' top five runners clocked in with a combined time of 1:39:27.76 and 153 points.

Ram Runners Finish 4th At Loyola Invitational

METAIRIE, La-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team finished in 4th place at the Loyola Wolfpack Invitational Saturday morning. The Rams finished with a team time of 1:39:46.18, while Xavier University won the meet with a time of 1:31:07.24. Mobile finished 3rd among SSAC teams in the meet. Mark Meadows paced Mobile with a 15th place finish and a time of 18:52.11, while Ryne Pulliam finished 19th with a time of 19:01.57.

Men's Cross Country Opens 2010 Season

CLINTON, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team finished 6th place at the Mississippi College Season Opener Tuesday evening to open the 2010 season at the Choctaw Trails Course. The Rams finished 1st among teams from the Southern States Athletic Conference. Mark Meadows paced the Rams with a 36th place finish at time of 19:27, while Ryne Pulliam was right behind at No. 38 with a time of 19:49. Emil Verde finished 40th at 19:50, Zach Gaines came in 43rd with a time of 20:03 and Chase Amerson finished 52nd with a time of 21:37.

Alastair Stevenson Named Cross Country Coach

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile announced Alastair Stevenson as Head Coach of the men's and women's cross country teams. Stevenson graduated from Mobile in 2001 with a B.S. in HPER. While at Mobile, Stevenson ran cross country and track for four years. He qualified for the NAIA National Championships all four years in cross country, and two times each in track and indoor track.

UM Men's Cross Country Adds One

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team announced the signing of Guillermo (Emil) Verde Tuesday. He is the son of Emil and Maggie Verde and a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Emil Verde is transferring in the Fall to the University of Mobile from the College of the Albemarle.
