Michael Azira Signs Pro Contract

MOBILE, Ala-- Former University of Mobile men's soccer player Michael Azira has inked a pro contract with the Charleston Battery of the USL Pro. "In thirty years of coaching, Michael Azira is undoubtedly one of the top 10 players I have ever had the opportunity to coach in the college ranks," UMobile Head Coach Roy Patton said. "If he stays healthy and spends some time at the next level, I fully expect to see him on TV and in the MLS." The USL Pro is comprised of eleven teams and the season is already underway and runs through August.

Four Rams Earn NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The University of Mobile had four players named to the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Teams, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Monday. Deshorn Brown was tabbed as a First-Team selection for the second-consecutive year, Chris Dillon and Stephen Okai were named Second Team All-America, and Michael Azira is an Honorable Mention selection.

Crusaders End Rams' Season At Nationals

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- 13th-seed William Carey defeated 4th-seed University of Mobile 3-0 in the Round of 16 at the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Monday at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Mobile ends the season with a 16-3-1 record, while William Carey (15-3-3) advances to the Round of 8 Wednesday.

Men Will Play At Nationals In Orange Beach Nov. 28

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The fifteen Opening Round games are over and the field of sixteen teams for the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Nov. 28 - Dec. 3 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex is set. Co-host University of Mobile received a bye to the Round of 16, and the Rams will be joined by Hastings, Saint Xavier, Science & Arts, Azusa Pacific, Rio Grande, Belhaven, William Carey, Baker, Huston-Tillotson, Great Falls, Grand View, Bethel, Southern Poly, Hannibal-LaGrange and Lindsey Wilson.

2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Qualifiers Released

KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The NAIA has released the 2011 Men's Soccer National Championship qualifiers, and the University of Mobile will be making its 15th appearance Nov. 28 - Dec. 3 in Orange Beach, Ala. There are 31 teams in the field, with 24 automatic qualifiers and seven at-large bids. Mobile received its bid by winning the SSAC Regular Season Championship. Due to serving as co-host for the tournament, the Rams get an automatic pass to the Round of 16, while the rest of the 30 teams will battle Nov. 19 in National Championship Opening Round contests.

Rams Earn Several SSAC Honors

MOBILE, Ala-- The 5th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team racked up postseason honors with the release of the 2011 SSAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Team and year-end awards. The nation's leading goal scorer Deshorn Brown was named the SSAC Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season, while Michael Azira was named SSAC Newcomer of the Year, and Roy Patton was tabbed SSAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Warhawks Stop Rams In SSAC Semifinal Double-OT Contest

GULFPORT, Miss-- The 19th-ranked Auburn University-Montgomery Warhawks ousted the 5th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team 3-2 in a double-overtime semifinal contest at the SSAC Tournament Thursday at the Gulfport Sportsplex. Mobile (16-2-1, 10-1-1) will get a host bid to the Round of 16 at the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championships Nov. 28 - Dec. 3 in Orange Beach, Ala. Mobile held a slim lead of 14-12 in shots taken and AUM held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. It was a physical contest with seven yellow cards handed out.

Mobile Men Advance In SSAC Tournament With 4-0 Win

MOBILE, Ala-- The 5th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team blasted rival Spring Hill College 4-0 in the opening round of the 2011 SSAC Tournament Saturday. Mobile (16-1-1, 10-1-1) will advance to the semifinals Thursday, Nov. 10 in Gulfport, Miss., with time and opponent to be determined. Mobile took 26 shots in the game, putting eight on target, while the Badgers managed only three shots all game and put none on frame.

No. 5 Mobile Men Host Spring Hill Saturday @ 7:30

MOBILE, Ala-- The 5th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team will host crosstown rival Spring Hill College Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 pm in a SSAC Tournament Opening Round contest. The Rams (15-1-1) won the SSAC Regular Season Championship and continue to hold strong at No. 5 in the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll behind Lindsey Wilson, Baker, Hastings and Rio Grande.
