No. 19 Mobile Moves To 3-0 On Season

MOBILE, Ala-- The 19th-ranked University of Mobile women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 6-3 home victory over NCAA II foe Stillman College Saturday. In doubles play, Rachel Hartley - Zelie Pfeiffer won 8-1 at No. 1 and Claudia Borges - Kari Williams won 8-1 at No. 3. Nancy Machen - Emily Jennings fell 7-9 at No. 2 doubles.

UM Finishes Sweep Of Talladega

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team took a pair of 7-inning games from visiting Talladega College Saturday, winning game one 9-4 and the finale 3-2. The Rams won the opening game of the doubleheader 9-4 thanks to 13 hits and a strong pitching performance from Chris Peacock. Peacock grabbed the win by allowing only 1 earned run on 5 hits in a complete-game effort. The righty fanned 6 and walked 3. Offensively, the Rams took advantage of 8 walks and 3 errors to compliment their 13 hits.

Mobile Takes Opener From Talladega

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team hung on to beat Talladega College 9-8 in Friday afternoon's series opener at Mobile. Mobile (4-6) will host Talladega for a noon doubleheader to finish the three-game series Saturday. Michael Clay picked up the win for Mobile with 5.1 innings of 7-hit, 5-run ball. The lefty fanned 4 and walked 3. John Ladnier struck out two in a scoreless 9th to pick up the save for the Rams.

Lady Rams Best William Carey

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball used a big opening half to trounce William Carey University 74-38 Thursday evening in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action at Pharr Gym.

Mobile (15-10, 7-8) visits Xavier University-New Orleans Monday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 pm. Morgan Crawford and Alice Honnery led the Lady Rams with 15 points apiece, Adrienne Mackay added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Davina Jefferson added 11 points off the bench. Morgan Melancon finished with 8 assists for Mobile.

UM Women Sign Local Product

 

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis program announced the signing of Baker High School product Tracy Cullum for the 2011 season. Cullum played at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles for a Baker team that finished 3rd at Sectionals last season. She will bring a strong desire to succeed to the Lady Rams.

UM Finishes Thomas Invite In 7th

VALDOSTA, Ga-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished 7th at the Thomas University Winter Invitational Tuesday at Kinderlou Forest GC. The Rams finished at 54-over 630 (321, 309), 19 strokes behind No. 1 Shorter College, which finished at 35-over 611 (306, 305). Johnson & Wales finished 2nd, two strokes behind Shorter.

UM Splits With Auburn-Montgomery

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with visiting Auburn University-Montgomery Tuesday, dropping the first game 3-2 in 7 innings and taking the finale 11-0 in 6 innings. Chris Peacock picked up the win in the finale with 2 innings of 2-hit shutout ball. Cameron White and Alan Butts both worked 2 scoreless innings of relief to help finish up the game. Josh Smith took the loss for the Senators after allowing 7 runs (2 earned) in 1.1 innings of work.

UM Opens 2010 With Two Wins

THOMASVILLE, GA-- The 18th-ranked University of Mobile softball team had to wait an extra day to start the 2010 season due to the winter weather that moved across the Southeast, but the Lady Rams impressed in their season-opening doubleheader at Thomas University Sunday. Mobile won the opener 11-0 in 5 innings due to the run-rule and 2-0 in the finale behind Victoria Buie's no-hitter.

2010 UM Softball Preview

The University of Mobile softball team will open the 2010 season Feb. 14 at Thomas University in a 12 pm double header. The Lady Rams will be looking to bounce back from missing the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since 1994, despite going 32-12 on the season and finishing the season ranked No. 17 in the final NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
