Lady Rams Cruise 112-58

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team used a record-setting performance from Gerica Johnson to run past visiting Concordia College-Selma 112-58 Saturday evening at Pharr Gym. Johnson scored a school-record 40 points, grabbed 12 boards, dished out 6 assists and finished with 9 steals.When she scored her 40th point on a three-pointer with 10:17 left, she equaled Concordia's team total at that point.

Season Ends At National Tournament

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (17-25, 22-25, 20-25) to No. 16 Taylor University in pool play action at the 2009 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Thursday.

The Lady Rams end the season with a 26-13 record as Taylor and Cal Baptist will advance from Mobile's pool to the single-elimination bracket Friday-Saturday.

UM Knocks Off No. 11 Vanguard At Nationals

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The University of Mobile volleyball team defeated No. 11 Vanguard University 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-19) in pool play action at the 2009 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Wednesday afternoon.

Mobile (26-12) will battle 16th-ranked Taylor University Thursday at 1 pm to close out pool play action. The top two teams from the pool advance to a single-elimination bracket Friday-Saturday.

UM Women Drop Pool Play Opener

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 15-25) to No. 2 California Baptist University in pool play action Tuesday at the final site of the 2009 NAIA Volleyball National Championship.

Paula Stilkey finished with 8 kills and 8 digs for Mobile, Kelly Sherling had 7 kills and 9 digs and Whitney Knight finished with 7 kills and 7 digs. Melody Tenney had 20 assists for the Lady Rams.

Davenport Takes Down Mobile

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Saturday, falling 68-89 to Davenport University on the final day of the SHC Thanksgiving Classic. Davenport forced 35 Mobile turnovers and went 13-of-39 from the three-point line versus a 2-of-6 effort from the Lady Rams.

UM Women Win 5th-Straight

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team improved to 7-1 on the season with an 80-56 thrashing of Aquinas College on day one of the Spring Hill College Thanksgiving Classic Friday evening. The Lady Rams controlled the boards with a 46-35 rebounding advantage and out shot Aquinas 48% to 34% en route to the victory. Adrienne Mackay put up a season-high 21 points to pace the Lady Rams, while Gerica Johnson tallied 15 points while going 3-of-5 from the 3-point line.

Rams Upset NCAA I Ragin Cajuns

LAFAYETTE, La-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team took down NCAA I University of Louisiana Lafayette 68-64 in an exhibition contest Tuesday evening. The game counts as a regular season contest for the Ragin Cajuns. Donte Walker tallied 17 points to lead Mobile, while Robert Golston added 14 points. Walker hit 7-of-11 from the floor, while Golston shot 7-of-10. Chris Gradnigo led the Ragin Cajuns with 17 points, while Randell Daigle finished with 12.

Mobile Women Move To 6-1

MONTICELLO, Ark-- The University of Mobile women's basketball defeated NCAA II Southern Arkansas 61-60 on the final day of the Dr. Mary Jane Gilbert Classic Saturday. Gerica Johnson led Mobile with 27 points, while Morgan Melancon added 11 points for the Lady Rams. Kmaria Hobbs put up 18 points to lead SAU, while Shenelda Levingston added 13 points and 15 boards.

UM Wins 68-66 V. NCAA II School

MONTICELLO, Ark.-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team used Gerica Johnson's 33 points to defeat NCAA II University of Arkansas-Monticello 68-66 Friday at the Dr. Mary Jane Gilbert Classic, hosted by Arkansas-Monticello. It's the third straight 30-plus game for Johnson, who scored 23 of the 33 in the opening half. She hit 13-of-16 from the charity stripe. Alice Honnery added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks for Mobile.
