Mobile Men's Tennis Upsets NCAA-I Squad

SHREVEPORT, La-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team upset NCAA-I Centenary College 5-4 to open the 2011 season Saturday. The teams were tied up at 4-4, when Lucas Martins finished off a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles to clinch the victory for Mobile. The Rams built a 2-1 lead after doubles action thanks to an 8-6 win from Jesus Urmeneta/Enzo Correa at No. 1 doubles and an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles from Guilherme Lorencon/Lucas Martins. Beau Bryars/Preston Smith fell 1-8 at No. 3 doubles.

Lady Rams Fall 4-5 At LSU-Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-5 decision at LSU-Shreveport Saturday. Mobile (1-1) will visit rival Spring Hill College Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 1 pm in a SSAC West Division battle. Mobile fell in a 1-2 hole after doubles play and could not recover.

Rams' Baseball Falls To Tornadoes

TALLADEGA, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team fell 6-1 at Talladega College Friday in non-conference play. Mobile (5-5) will finish out the 3-game series with a noon doubleheader Saturday. Ryan Pettus picked up the win for the Tornadoes by allowing 0 earned runs (1 run) on 6 hits in 5 innings while fanning 1. Michael King took the loss for the Rams after allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits in 6 innings of action.

Mobile Men Fall At Home To Xavier

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 57-66 to 13th-ranked Xavier University-Louisiana in non-conference NAIA action Thursday at Pharr Gym. Mobile is now 24-6 at home the past two seasons. Donte Walker led the Rams with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Ji Kimbrough chipped in 13 points. Anthony Simmons led Xavier with 14 points, while Kevin Miller chipped in 13.

Lady Rams Take Down #16 Xavier

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team stepped out of of conference play Thursday evening to pick up a 63-59 victory over 16th-ranked Xavier University-Louisiana. Mobile improves to 14-9 overall and sits at 4-5 in the division. The Lady Rams, 11-2 at home, will visit rival Spring Hill College Saturday, Feb. 19 at 5 pm. Alice Honnery dominated inside for Mobile, finishing with 15 points, 13 rebounds, 6 blocks and 6 assists, while Allison Michael knocked down 4-of-6 from 3-pt range to finish with 14 points.

UMobile Men Place 5th At Start 2 Finish Webber Classic

LAKE WALES, Fla.-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished in 5th place at the 2011 Start 2 Finish Webber Classic at Lake Wales CC. The Rams finished the 3-round event at the Par-71, 7,072 yard course with an 89-over 941 (315, 310, 316). That put Mobile 33 strokes behind winner University of Tampa, which shot a 56-over 908 (310, 303, 295).

Lady Rams Open Spring Season With 4th-Place Finish

LAKE WALES, Fla-- The University of Mobile women's golf team finished in 4th place at the Start 2 Finish Webber Classic to open the 2011 spring season. The Lady Rams fired a collective +115 691 (341, 350) during the two-round event at the Par-72, 5,833 yard Lake Wales CC. Florida Southern won the tournament with a 67-over 643 (318, 325) and Centre College finished 2nd with an 80-over 656 (335, 321).

Mobile Men Open 2011 Spring Season

LAKE WALES, Fla-- The University of Mobile men's golf team kicked off the 2011 spring season at the Start 2 Finish Webber Classic Sunday with two rounds of play at the 71-under, 7,072 yard Lake Wales CC. Mobile sits at +57 625 (315, 310) in 7th place, while host Webber International leads the pack with a 39-over 607 (311, 296). University of Tampa sits in 2nd with a 45-over 613 (310, 303).

#25 Lady Rams Drop Game In Extra Innings

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile dropped a 6-7 decision in 9 innings to Indiana University-Southeast Saturday. Mobile (1-1) will head to Montgomery for the Faulkner University Tournament this weekend and will open against Truett McConnell Friday at 4:30 pm. Haley Baker was tagged with the loss after allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings of relief. Jenna Swain picked up the win for IUS with 3 innings of 1-hit, 1-run relief.
