Mobile Men Finish 2nd At Choctaw Open

CLINTON, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team placed 2nd among Non-Division I teams at the Choctaw Open Saturday. The Rams finished ahead of SSAC schools William Carey and Belhaven in the 4-mile run with a time of 2:07:02.39 and 69 points. Mississippi College finished 1st with a time of 1:52:43/26 and 15 points.

UMobile Volleyball Falls To No. 11 Embry-Riddle

SAVANNAH, Ga-- The University of Mobile volleyball team closed out the SCAD Invitational by falling 0-3 (12-25, 22-25, 16-25) to 11th-ranked Embry-Riddle Saturday. Mobile (12-11) will visit NCAA II University of West Florida Tuesday at 7 pm. Kelly Sherling led Mobile with 14 kills, hitting .158. Melody Tenney led with 14 assists, while Kaylle McGrew added 11 assists and 10 digs. Katy McCollister led the team with 12 digs.

Lady Rams Move To 2-0 In SSAC Play

MOBILE, Ala-- The 19th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in SSAC West Division action by blanking visiting Faulkner University 3-0 Saturday evening.  Mobile (8-4-1, 2-0) will host William Carey University Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 5 pm to close out the 2010 home schedule. The Lady Rams controlled every phase of the game, holding Faulkner to one shot on goal and two shots overall, while taking 20 shots as a team and putting eight of them on target.

No. 11 Rams Blast Faulkner 4-0

MOBILE, Ala-- The 11th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team blasted visiting Faulkner University 4-0 in SSAC West Division action Saturday evening. The Rams (9-2-2, 1-0-1) host William Carey University Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 pm. Mobile kept the pressure on all game, taking 29 shots overall, including 10 on target. The Rams' defense, meanwhile, limited Faulkner to 6 shots and Jason Williams grabbed 4 saves in the shutout effort.

Mobile Takes Opening Set, But Falls To SCAD 1-3

SAVANNAH, Ga-- The University of Mobile volleyball fell to SCAD 1-3 (25-22, 19-25, 20-25, 18-25) on the final day of the SCAD Invitational Saturday. Kelly Sherling paced Mobile offensively with 20 kills and a .255 attack percentage, while Mobile hit only .065 as a team. Sherling added 10 digs and 3 blocks. Alyson Kovacs finished with 8 kills for Mobile, Katy McCollister led with 15 digs, and Kaylee McGrew finished with 17 assists and 11 digs for the Lady Rams.

Lady Rams Drop Pair To Nationally Ranked Teams

SAVANNAH, Ga-- The University of Mobile volleyball team dropped a pair of matches against nationally ranked teams on day one of the SCAD Invitational Friday. In the opener, Mobile fell to Bellevue 0-3 (19-25, 17-25, 18-25). In the final match of the day, the Lady Rams fell to 5th-ranked UT-Brownsville 0-3 (16-25, 22-25, 20-25). Mobile (12-9) will face host SCAD Saturday at 10 am and 11th-ranked Embry-Riddle at 2 pm.

11th-Ranked Rams Hold Off UH-Victoria 5-3

VICTORIA, Texas-- The 11th-ranked University of Mobile ousted University of Houston-Victoria 5-3 in non-conference men's soccer action Tuesday. Mobile jumped ahead 3-0 in the opening half while taking 10 shots, and then held on with two more goals in the second half, while UH-Victoria got its offense going. Deshorn Brown opened the scoring in the 10th minute for Mobile when he put home a feed from Stephen Okai, and then Brown made it 2-0 in the 34th minute, when UH-Victoria's goalkeeper mishandled the ball.

UMobile Volleyball Blanks Faulkner In SSAC Play

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team blanked Faulkner University in impressive fashion Tuesday, winning 25-5, 25-12, 25-16 in SSAC West Division action. Mobile (12-7, 4-1) travels to Savannah, Ga., for the SCAD Invitational this weekend and will open with Bellevue Friday at 1 pm. The Lady Rams dominated in every face, serving up 20 aces and hitting .291 as a team, while allowing only 1 Faulkner ace and holding the Lady Eagles to  -.013 attack percentage.

No. 17 UMobile Women Open SSAC Play With 3-0 Victory

JACKSON, Miss-- The 17th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team blanked Belhaven University 3-0 to open SSAC West Division play Tuesday evening. The Rams used a dominant first half to set the tone, out shooting the Lady Blazers 17-0 and finishing with a 9-0 edge in shots on target, while tallying a pair of goals in the opening 45 minutes. Missy Stovall opened the scoring for Mobile with a goal in the 14th minute, and seven minutes later, Anna Maddox fed Rebekah Counce for a goal to take a 2-0 lead.

Rams Place 7th At SeeMore NAIA Intercollegiate

SAVANNAH, Ga-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished in 7th place at the SeeMore NAIA Intercollegiate, hosted by SCAD at Wilmington Island Club. It was a three-round tournament at the Par-71, 6715-yard course. The Rams fired an 84-over 936 (311, 323, 302) to finish in 7th, while USC Beaufort won the tournament with a 10-over 862 (292, 286, 284).
