Volleyball Rolls Past Fisk

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team won its 4th straight match Friday evening, defeating visiting Fisk University 3-0 (25-4, 25-4, 25-2). The Lady Rams (6-2) host Stillman College Saturday at 11 am at Pharr Gym in non-conference action. Mobile sizzled in every area, holding Fisk to a -.311 attack percentage and hitting .545 as a team.

Lachappelle's Hat Trick Leads Women To 5-1 Win

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team blasted the Northwood University Lady Knights 5-1 in non-conference NAIA action Friday afternoon at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Mobile dominated from the first whistle and got a hat trick from sophomore Christy Lachappelle, while out shooting the Lady Knights 19-2 and finishing with a 10-2 edge in shots on target.

Mobile Women Blank Xavier 3-0

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-10) victory over visiting Xavier University-Louisiana in non-conference action Thursday evening at Pharr Gym. Offensively, Mobile was led by Kelly Sherling with 14 kills and 4 aces, while Shea McBee tallied 7 kills on a .700 attack percentage and Alyson Kovacs finished with 6 kills and a .625 hitting percentage. Charlotte Stutts led the team with 14 digs, Christa Hicks added 10 digs and Melody Tenney led with 18 assists.

Lady Rams Rally Past Faulkner In Five Sets

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team rallied to defeat SSAC foe Faulkner University 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-27, 25-18, 15-10) on the road Tuesday evening. Mobile moves to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in conference action, and will return home to host Xavier University-Louisiana Thursday at 7:30 pm. Senior Kelly Sherling turned in a dominant performance on the outside for Mobile, with 26 kills and a .291 attack percentage.

Men's Soccer Climbs To No. 14 In NAIA Top-25

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team jumped up to No. 14 in the third regular season edition of the 2010 NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Rams (4-1-1) jumped up from receiving 18 votes in last week's poll to now receiving 372 points, just five behind 13th-ranked William Jewell College. The leap came after a big week for the Rams. Mobile beat then-No. 23 Southern Polytechnic State University 3-2 in double-overtime Friday and then blanked then-No. 3 Embry-Riddle 3-0 on Saturday.

Ikungo Named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

MOBILE, Ala-- The Southern States Athletic Conference released the OnePath Systems SSAC Players of the Week and Onesimus Ikungo was named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. The Rams (4-1-1) went 2-0 on the week, beating 23rd-ranked Southern Polytechnic State University 3-2 in double-overtime and then blanking 3rd-ranked Embry-Riddle 3-0. Ikungo, a senior forward from Kampala, Uganda, played a big part in Saturday's win over the ERAU Eagles.

Lady Rams Finish Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate

WAYNESVILLE, N.C.-- The University of Mobile women's golf team finished 24th at the 12th Annual Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate. The Lady Rams finished the two-round tournament with a 78-over 654 (331, 323), while Jacksonville State won the tournament with an impressive 2-over 578 (289, 289). Taylor Kirby carded a +14 158 (79, 79) to tie for 89th and led Mobile.

Rams Blank #3 Embry-Riddle 3-0

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team blanked 3rd-ranked Embry-Riddle 3-0 in NAIA soccer action Saturday evening. Mobile (4-1-1) next play in Orange Beach Friday, Sept. 24 at 7 pm versus Northwood University (TX). The Rams controlled tempo all game, out shooting ERAU 19-7 for the game and 11-2 in the second half. Goalkeeper Jason Williams finished with a 3-save shutout for the Rams, while Embry's Kile Kennedy made 5 saves and allowed 3 goals.

Men's Golf Finishes 8th At Derrall Foreman Invite

CLEVELAND, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished in 8th place at the Derrall Foreman Invitational, hosted by Delta State University. Mobile shot a two-round +34 610 (305, 305), while University of North Alabama won the event with a 26-under 550 (277, 273). Alejandro Salcedo led Mobile with a tie for 27th after firing a 5-over 149 (75, 74).
