SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The University of Mobile volleyball team had two players named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The Southern States Athletic Conference released the year-end volleyball awards Friday evening, and the University of Mobile had five players honored. Kiara Gay was named 1st-Team All-Conference, Sara Van Wert and Disah Kolassiba were named 2nd-Team All-Conference and Bailey Nations was named to the All-Freshmen Team. Tayler Houseknecht was the team's Musco Lighting Champion of Character selection.

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team finished the season at the SSAC Tournament Thursday, falling twice in pool play action. Mobile lost to Lee University 0-3 (14-25, 21-25, 20-25) in the first match of the day and then fell 0-3 (18-25, 23-25, 20-25) to Emmanuel. Mobile finishes the season at 24-13. Against Lee, Kiara Gay led with 11 kills and 9 digs, while Bailey Nations added 9 kills and hit .350, and Disah Kolassiba added 7 kills with a .267 hitting percentage.

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team was rewarded for off-the-court excellence once again with the release of the NAIA Scholar Teams. For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade-point average includes all varsity student-athletes certified as eligible.

Lady Rams Earn Academic Honor

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team was one of only 33 NAIA volleyball programs to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 season. The American Volleyball Coaches Association honored 533 teams overall. The award, which was initiated in 1992-93, honors both high school and collegiate volleyball teams that maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. The Lady Rams produced a 3.43 GPA during the 2011-12 season.

They will join the returning seven from the 2011 season to build the team to its highest level to date. Leah Lovelace was the first commitment to the 2012 team. A versatile player from Florida, she has the ability to play six rotations, swinging from the left side in the front row. Though she is only 5’8, she has a solid vertical, hard arm swing, and impressive jump serve.

Campbell boasts a 300-157 career mark and a 173-74 record in seven seasons with the Lady Rams. He started the UMobile volleyball program in 2005, and just one year later led the team to a 31-7 record. Then, over the next three seasons, Mobile compiled 96 wins, three conference championships and three trips to the NAIA National Championships.

As we’ve done in the past, our practices will be Mondays and Tuesdays, 6:00pm-7:30pm, for the 8 consecutive weeks. We will work around spring break, meaning we will either break for one week if everyone is on the same schedule or we will add an additional week to the training so that everyone can get in their 8 weeks.
