MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team rode a hot start to a 75-50 win over SSAC West foe Faulkner University Saturday afternoon at Pharr Gym. Mobile (11-9, 4-1) will visit Loyola University Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 pm. Ji Kimbrough led the Rams with 16 points thanks to an 8-of-11 effort from the free throw line, Kevin Calloway and Donte Walker each chipped in 15 points and Bentley Hylton finished with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

Lady Eagles Slip By Lady Rams

MOBILE, Ala-- The Faulkner University Lady Eagles used a 20-7 free throw advantage in the final half to hand the University of Mobile its first home loss of the season, 86-81 in SSAC West play Saturday afternoon. Mobile (12-6, 3-2) will visit Loyola University Thursday, Feb. 3 at 5:30 pm, while Faulkner improves to 16-5 overall and 3-2 in the division. Belhaven is in the top spot with a 5-1 conference mark.

The Lady Rams (12-5, 3-1) will host Faulkner University Saturday at 2 pm, while Spring Hill falls to 8-13 overall and 1-3 in conference. Alice Honnery led Mobile with a career-high 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Adrienne Mackay added 15 points and 9 boards and Alyssa Lane chipped in 12 points and 4 assists off the bench. Morgan Melancon dished out 7 assists and finished with 6 steals.

Mobile (11-4, 2-1) will return to SSAC West action Thursday, Jan. 27 at 5:30 pm when they host rival Spring Hill College. Xavier improves to 18-4 on the season. Alice Honnery posted 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks in the post for the Lady Rams, but the team only shot 1-of-10 from 3-point range, as the next highest scorers were Alyssa Lane and Adrienne Mackay with 6 points apiece.

Bentley Hylton led four Rams in double figures with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Brock Dockery added 11 points. Mobile (10-4, 1-1) hosts Auburn University-Montgomery Thursday, Jan. 20 at 5:30 pm. Belhaven improves to 12-5, 1-1. Mobile out shot Belhaven 52% to 37% from the floor in the opening half and took a 42-34 lead into the break, but the Lady Blazers shot an astounding 65% in the final half, while holding Mobile to 44% to outscore the Lady Rams 54-31 over the final 20 minutes.

MARIETTA, Ga-- The Life University Running Eagles topped the University of Mobile 96-80 in NAIA men's basketball action Saturday evening. Mobile (7-5) will open up SSAC West Division play Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7:30 pm when William Carey University visits Pharr Gym. The Rams turned the ball over 24 times and shot only 38% from the floor, including a 1-of-10 effort from 3-point range. Life, on the other hand, shot 48% from the floor and went 7-of-19 from deep. That shooting discrepancy offset Mobile's 54-29 rebounding edge in the game.

In the game, Alice Honnery finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds and 7 blocks to give her 189 career blocks in just a season and a half to become the Lady Rams' all-time career blocks leader. Edmarie Lumbsley held down the top spot after totaling 188 blocks from 2000-02. Alyssa Lane added 14 points and 7 boards for Mobile and Adrienne Mackay chipped in 11 points.

Rams Recognized For Fall Success

CLEVELAND – The University of Mobile is ranked 15th in the final fall NAIA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings. Mobile received 53 points for a ninth place finish in women's soccer and 83 points for a third place finish in men's soccer. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) extended its lead, earning 25 points following a ninth place finish in football, bringing their point total to 301 points.
