MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team split Saturday's twin bill at No. 16 Auburn University-Montgomery, taking the 7-inning opener 8-4 and falling 12-2 in an 8-inning finale. Mobile (18-18, 10-10) and AUM (25-16, 14-6) will wrap the series with a single game Sunday at 1 pm. In the opener, Josh Blaylock allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in the 1st inning, but settled down and allowed only 3 hits the rest of the way, holding the Warhawks scoreless over the final six innings. He struck out 4 and walked a pair.

The Lady Rams beat Southern Wesleyan 4-3 and took down 16th-ranked Lee University 3-2. Mobile (21-6, 3-3) will face a trio of teams Friday. They will battle Shorter at 11, Emmanuel at 4 and Truett-McConnell at 6. In the opener, Kamaron Strickland got the win after allowing 3 runs on 6 hits in 4.1 innings of work. Alli Hall came in and threw 2.2 innings of no-hit relief to pick up the save.

KANSAS CITY, Mo-- Alice Honnery was named Honorable Mention NAIA All-America for the second-straight year Wednesday with the release of the 2012 Division I Women's Basketball teams by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. A First Team, Second Team, Third Team and Honorable Mention selections were chosen by the All-America committee. A senior post player from New South Wales, Australia, Honnery led the Lady Rams with 15.3 points, 10.86 rebounds, 2.64 assists, 1.21 steals and 3.93 blocks per game. She led the NAIA in total blocks with 110 and blocks per game, was 2nd with a .577 field goal percentage and was 9th in rebounds per contest.

Rams' Antonio Hester Named Third-Team All-America

KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The University of Mobile's Antonio Hester was tabbed as a Third-Team All-American Wednesday, when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2011-12 Division I Men's Basketball All-America Teams. Hester, a junior forward from Miami, Fla., paced the Rams with 15.48 points per game, 8.58 rebounds and 1.48 blocks per contest. The 8.58 rebounds per game breaks Robert Jones' school record, which was set in 2007-08. He led the NAIA with a .668 field goal percentage, was 13th with 3.55 offensive boards per game and 18th with 266 total boards.

A nationwide search for a new coach will begin immediately. After taking over as the head man during the 2007-08 season, Berry compiled a 67-68 mark with the Lady Rams. Prior to becoming head coach, Berry spent four years as an assistant with the Lady Rams and helped the team to an 86-41 record and two NAIA National Tournament appearances.

Mobile beat Madonna 1-0 and fell to Thomas University 1-4. Mobile (13-1) will play Sunday in bracket play with time and opponent to be determined. The day started with Brittney Kerr out-pitching Hallie Minch in the 1-0 win over the Crusaders. Kerr twirled 7 innings of 3-hit shutout ball while striking out 4 and walking 1. Minch gave up 1 run on 3 hits in 6 innings of work. Kerr did not allow a ball out of the infield until the 6th inning.

ROME, Ga-- The 2nd-ranked Shorter University Hawks bounced the University of Mobile from the quarterfinals of the 2012 SSAC Men's Basketball Tournament with an 85-64 decision Thursday. The Hawks used a dominant first half to get the win, outscoring Mobile 55-32 in the opening 20 minutes of action. Shorter out shot Mobile 63% to 36% in that period. They also drained 9-of-13 3-pointers.

GULF SHORES, Ala-- The 22nd-ranked University of Mobile softball team swept Concordia University Thursday, run-ruling the Lady Cardinals 10-0 in the opener, and taking the finale 5-1. Mobile (8-0) hosts Morningside Monday at 5 pm. Kamaron Strickland grabbed the win in the opener, blanking the Cardinals on 2 hits in 4 innings of work. The Mobile bats, meanwhile, scored all 10 runs in the 2nd-4th innings to back Strickland.
