The University of Mobile Upper Room Theatre will present “The Phantom of the Opera” April 19-22 at Saraland High School Auditorium. The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. April 19, 20 and 21, and the Sunday matinee on April 22 begins at 2 p.m.

Full of laughs, scheming plots and beautiful music, “The Phantom of the Opera” portrays a tale filled with a cast of memorable characters and songs including “Think of Me,” “Angel of Music,” and “All I Ask of You.” When a disfigured ‘phantom’ who haunts the Paris Opera House falls in love with a simple chorus girl, chaos ensues about how to deal with this menace.
“The Phantom of the Opera” is the final production of the 2011 – 2012 academic year by the Upper Room Theatre
, a program of the University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts.
chair of the musical theatre department and associate professor of musical theatre, is directing the production. Earnest has a bachelor of arts in musical theatre and administration from Westfield State College, and a master of music degree from the University of Miami.
Charles Houghton, chair of theatre at the University of West Florida, is the set designer. Scott Wright, general director of Mobile Opera, is musical director for the URT production and Monica Henry is choreographer.
