The University of Mobile Jazz Band will present a spring concert Thursday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Ram Hall on the university campus. Admission is free and the public is invited.
The concert theme, “Sinatra Swings,” features the music of Frank Sinatra in a coffeehouse atmosphere. UMobile’s
Kenn Hughes, assistant professor of music, will direct the concert.
Titles include “Almost Like Being In Love,” “Come Fly With Me,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “I’m Beginning to See the Light,” “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “My Way,” “Strangers in the Night,” “Summer Wind,” “The Best Is Yet To Come,” and “The Way You Look Tonight.”
The UMobile Jazz Band is a Big Band instrumental ensemble performing music with an emphasis on diverse stylistic approaches to jazz, blues, swing, rock, Latin, funk and fusion music. Jazz improvisation is a main focus of development in the band.
