The University of Mobile has been named in “America’s 100 Best College Buys” for the fourth consecutive year by Institutional Research & Evaluation Inc.
The University of Mobile is one of only four colleges in Alabama to receive the 2012-2013 designation and the only private university.
Lewis T. Lindsey Jr., president of IR&E, says, “Consistent with its mission, and as a guide by which institutions may be compared, each year Institutional Research & Evaluation Inc. identifies the 100 American colleges and universities providing students the very highest quality education at the lowest cost.”
The IR&E conducted its 22nd Annual National College Survey between April 1 and July 31, 2012. UMobile was selected for the top 100 list from among the 1,027 accredited U.S. colleges and universities surveyed.
The University of Mobile has enrolled 1,788 students in undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Arts and Sciences; College of Christian Leadership; schools of business, Christian ministries, education, nursing, worship leadership, Center for Performing Arts/School of Music; Center for Adult Programs and graduate programs.
To be considered for the designation “America’s 100 Best College Buys,” an institution must be an accredited, four-year institution offering bachelor degrees and full residential facilities including residence halls and dining services. It must have had an entering freshman class in the fall of 2011 with a high school grade point average or SAT/ACT score equal to or above the national average for entering college freshmen. It must have an out-of-state cost of attendance in 2012-2013 for three quarters or two semesters below the national average cost of attendance, or not exceeding the national average cost by 10 percent.
