Guitar ensemble member Brittany Gardner donated her $400 guitar to Dunbar School to be donated to a financially disadvantaged, deserving student in the Dungar guitar ensemble, according to ensemble director Mark Habib, adjunct instructor of guitar at UMobile. The concert was held Monday, May 6.
The Guitar Ensemble is one of the 22 performing ensembles in the UMobile Center for Performing Arts/School of Music
and School of Worship Leadership.
The performance consisted of pieces by G.F.Handel, Michael Praetorius and Isaac Albeniz.
Ensemble members are: Jaron Wohlwend, Cory Poff, Brittany Gardner, Darryl Rogers, Tad Borowski and director Mark Habib, adjunct instructor of guitar. The performance lasted 20 minutes and was followed by a question/answer session from the students.
Habib emphasized the importance of music and this performance.
“I’m excited about this event because it gives our students the opportunity to share this labor of love with the students at Dunbar, who are studying music and are aspiring professional musicians. My hope is that our performance will inspire them to pursue this beautiful art of guitar and fulfill their potential to become the best musicians they can be,” said Habib.
