UMobile Presents 'Feelings' Vocal Recital Featuring Dr. Mihaela Buhaiciuc

The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts presents “Feelings,” a vocal recital by Romanian-born soprano Dr. Mihaela Buhaiciuc, on Monday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.

The recital will be held in Moorer Auditorium in Thomas T. Martin Hall on the University of Mobile campus, 5735 College Pkwy. Admission is free. Buhaiciuc is a former UMobile vocal professor and will be accompanied by Dr. Sharon Hudson, adjunct instructor of piano.

“The theme ‘Feelings’ describes life moments, which I chose to depict through particular music,” Buhaiciuc said.

A full-time faculty member for five years with the UMobile Center for Performing Arts, Buhaiciuc returned to her native Romania last year to be closer to family and her mother, who was in ill health.

“I kept teaching online for the CPA, which kept a part of my heart in Mobile and made the transition easier for me,” she said. She also wrote a book, “The Art of Singing, The Science of Emotions,” which will be published in the United States this year.

“Among the concepts are the ideas of science, art, spirituality and philosophy seen through the ideal ‘Performing the Self,’” she said. The book will also feature students and faculty from the UMobile Center for Performing Arts/School of Music and School of Worship Leadership.

Currently, Buhaiciuc is a full-time member of the vocal faculty in the music department at University of Transilvania Brasov in Romania, and coordinator of the voice area.
