The University of Mobile will host the student portion of the fifth annual citywide Poetry Walk at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 in Lyon Chapel.
Local poet Robert Gray has collaborated with the City of Mobile Neighborhood and Community Services to create the annual Poetry Walk. The event, which began in 2009 as part of Mobile’s Art Walk, is a daylong series that occurs across the Mobile area. It provides local poets the opportunity to present publically their work and hear the work of other poets.
University of Mobile poets include Samantha Mowdy, Mallory Searcy, Will Drake, and Meghan Johnston. UMobile professors Dr. Steve Schuler and Dr. Doug Mitchell will present their poetry at other locations during the event. In past years, poets such as Poet Laureate of Alabama Sue Walker have attended.
For any students who would like to participate, contact Dr. Schuler at firstname.lastname@example.org. Plan for five-minute slots.
