The Mobile Arts Council has selected works by six University of Mobile art students to be displayed in its upcoming professional show, ‘5’. The exhibition includes a formal presentation of prizes and a reception during the Mobile LoDa ArtWalk on April 11.
The six students and their works are as follows:
Brittney Anderson, “Good Game Old Sport,” oil on canvas
Dakota Cantrell, “Wandering Warrior,” ceramics and acrylic
Nichole Demos, “Other,” ceramic
Ragan Fleming, untitled, ceramic
Satyn Luker, “Me,” compressed charcoal
Emily Williams “Oct-o-pot #2,” ceramic; “Wall-flower,” paper and pen
Elliot Knight, visual arts program manager at the Alabama State Council on the Arts, is the official juror.
According to the Mobile Arts Council, ‘5’ is a juried exhibition of work by students at the area’s five colleges and universities, The 2014 exhibition will be displayed at the Mobile Arts Council galleries, located on 318 Dauphin St., from April 1-25. Pieces include any medium or style created while enrolled at the entrant’s current school.
For the six University of Mobile students, this means entering work fashioned under the direction of Phillip Counselman, associate professor of art, and Megan Cary, assistant professor of art.
