UMobile Symphonic Winds Presents Concert kdean posted on January 11, 2011 11:10 The University of Mobile’s Symphonic Winds ensemble will present a concert Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in Ram Hall on the university’s campus. Admission is free. The concert will open the three-day Honor Band event, during which outstanding high school musicians will gather for musical instruction and presentation. The community is invited. Wes Dykes, adjunct director of symphonic winds, will conduct the ensemble. The University Symphonic Winds is a large concert band which performs classical, traditional and contemporary music in sacred and secular settings. The band also broadens the performing experience with the occasional addition of string and rhythm sections allowing the student to experience a studio orchestra setting for major productions.
