Chamber Orchestra, A Cappella Choir to Perform

The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts will present the UMobile Chamber Orchestra and A Cappella Choir in a free concert Tuesday, March 1, at 8:15 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 2 S. Claiborne St.

The choir and orchestra are under the direction of Dr. Al Miller, dean of the Center for Performing Arts and associate professor of music. The orchestra will perform Bach Double Violin Concerto with String Orchestra. Soloists include violinists Enen Yu, adjunct instructor of violin and co-concertmaster of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, and Evangeline Thies, second violin principal of MSO.

The A Capella Choir will perform “Sleep” and “Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitaker, “Set Me as a Seal” by Rene Clausen, “Almighty God of our Fathers” by Will James, “Worthy is the Lamb” No. 53 by Handel from Messiah, and “The Lord’s Prayer” by Leroy Robertson.

Students in the university’s Chamber Orchestra are joined by guest musicians from the Mobile Symphony to perform sacred music in this annual concert.
