UMobile Opera Theater Presents ‘Opera on Air’ kdean posted on March 25, 2011 13:51 The University of Mobile Opera Theater will present “Opera on Air” April 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Upper Room Theater in Martin Hall on the university campus. “Opera on Air” is inspired by Menotti’s “The Old Maid and the Thief.” University of Mobile students will treat audiences to a mock radio broadcast featuring a full presentation of “The Old Maid and the Thief” along with selections from the greatest works of 20th century American musical drama, including, “Candide,” “Susannah,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “The Devil and Daniel Webster.” Students will perform under the direction of assistant professors of music Mihaela Buhaiciuc and Patrick Jacobs. Adjunct professor of piano Sharon Hudson will contribute as accompanist and coach.
