The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts is now accepting applications for the
18th Annual Summer Music Camp, which will be held June 13-17 on the University of Mobile campus.
Students in grades 4-11 will sharpen their technique and performance skills, and learn about music from outstanding faculty from the University of Mobile and local music educators and performers. The UMobile Summer Music Camp offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to encourage young musicians in the study of music with instruction in all instruments, including voice.
Students will have the option of taking many different classes ranging from music fundamentals, chorus and various ensembles. Master classes in all instruments and private lessons will also be offered.
Campers should have a minimum of one year of disciplined study in music and a recommendation by a music teacher. The camp is under the direction of Barbara Laurendine, adjunct instructor of piano in the UMobile Center for Performing Arts.
Junior Camp is offered for grades 4-7 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Senior Camp is offered for grades 8-11 from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $165 for Junior Camp, and $185 for Senior Camp, plus registration fees of $25. Private music lessons are available for an additional $18 for each half-hour lesson.
Registration deadline is June 7 for the University of Mobile Summer Music Camp. Full and partial tuition scholarships are available by audition, and registration deadline for scholarship auditions is May 5.
