The University of Mobile has been named among “America’s 100 Best College Buys” by Institutional Research & Evaluation Inc., an independent research and consulting organization. The Christian university is one of only four schools in Alabama and the only private university in the state listed in the 2011-2012 report.
The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts will present Constance Carroll in the University of Mobile Master Series piano recital Friday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in Moorer Auditorium on the university campus. Carroll will give a master class workshop the same day at noon.
In celebration of the University of Mobile’s 50th anniversary, the university cancelled classes for a day to engage in “Project Serve.” On September 16, 2011, more than 1,100 UMobile faculty, staff, alumni and students began a day of service by gathering in front of Weaver Hall for a rally.
The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts is presenting a free worship concert, “The CPA Finale 2010,” on Sunday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist North Mobile in Saraland.
UMobile will host its first “University of Mobile Forum on Christianity and the Liberal Arts" Sept. 24-25 on the topic of “Values and Character Formation in the Liberal Arts Classroom.” Private and public university professors, graduate students, and independent scholars are invited to submit academic papers.
Acts such as Casting Crowns, Toby Mac, MercyMe and Stryper have something new to sell, thanks to a new Mobile company - Blown Away Innovations. The company is the brainchild of UMobile graduate Jeff Jones, drummer and merchandising coordinator for Christian pop band Big Daddy Weave.
Zeinabou’s life was all about community but not so much about Jesus. Then UMobile graduate Brandy Nelson moved into her village in the West African country of Niger and gave her cassette tapes about someone named Jesus. And everything changed. But not just for Zeinabou.
The third annual University of Mobile Art Exhibition has new dates for the 2010 exhibition. The opening reception will be Sunday, April 18 from 2-4 p.m. and the exhibition, which is open to the public, will be from April 18 to May 14.
Miss University of Mobile 2010 Sarah Becky Spain and three past Miss UMs will sing karaoke and wait tables for tips to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network.
