Biology
Students majoring in Biology obtain a broad understanding of basic biological principles within the framework of a flexible curriculum designed to provide students with a wide range of experiences. The UM campus is situated on approximately 800 acres of beautiful woodlands, affording opportunities for ecological research. The Harrigan Forest Learning Center and surrounding 120-acre environmental preserve provide a wonderful on-campus opportunity for students to take field biology courses such as botany, ecology, ornithology, and mammalogy. The University of Mobile is also a member of the Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium of Alabama which gives students the opportunity to take some specialized biology courses through the nearby Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL).
