The CIS Club provides a forum for interested students to attend guest lectures from students, faculty, and industry experts; to go on field trips to area computer facilities; and to perform service by participating in a fundraising activity.  All interested UM students are eligible for membership.  Dues are $2.50 per semester.  Only dues paying members may run for office and participate in field trips.  Meetings are generally held monthly on a Tuesday or a Thursday at 12:15 to 1:00 PM in Weaver Hall.  Refreshments are generally served to accommodate students who would normally go to lunch at that time.

Previous guest speakers from industry have included (1) Mr. Reggie Carney, Senior Subject Matter Expert of Minolta-QMS and UM Alumnus, (2) Mr. Everage Thomas, IS Manager of a local company and UM Alumnus, and (3) Mr. Jason Colee, Assistant Manager of New Technology Services of CPSI and UM Alumnus.  Student and faculty guest speakers have included (1) CIS Club President (2000-01) Kathryn Dalgety, who gave a seminar on using mascot.com, (2) Mr. Nick Cillo, UM Management and Finance faculty member, who spoke on Tips on Fundraising, and (3) Mrs. Jennifer Russ, who presented a workshop on web design.  Members recently took a field trip to tour Ingall's Shipbuilding computer facilities in Pascagoula, Mississippi.  Future plans include a tour of Xante Corporation of Mobile.
