Internship Program
More options

The internship program offered through the School of Business is a unique educational opportunity by which students obtain academic credit while acquiring practical work experience in their chosen field of study.

Internships provide students the opportunity to develop employment skills related to their academic major through workplace assignments that reinforce theory and practice from the classroom.  Internships last for one semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer).  They provide a priceless experience that can add great credence to a student’s resume and establish an excellent network of professionals who are already practicing in the field.  In addition to obtaining a working knowledge of a chosen discipline, student interns develop important career-related characteristics such as maturity, motivation, and self-confidence.

Internships are assigned based on (1) student qualification, (2) employer availability, and (3) faculty supervisor availability.  All internship positions require an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and 100 hours of supervised, professional experience during the semester.  Internship positions are unpaid but carry a 3-hour credit weight.

Each discipline also carries specific requirements as follows:

Accounting – completion of 12 hours of Accounting with a GPA of 3.0 or better

Business Administration – completion of BA 151 and 6 advanced hours in AC, BA, EC, FI, MGT, or MKT; overall GPA of 3.0 or better

Computer Information Systems – completion of 18 hours of CIS courses (including CIS 101) with a GPA of 3.0 or better

Communication – completion of COM  200, 311 or 312, and 450 with a GPA of 3.0 or better
