Why the Honors Program? Where else can you dress up in togas, throw the “bone of contention,” and play Balderdash and it not only be completely okay, but encouraged? In what other classes could you travel to Florida overnight just to learn more about marine life, tour the city of Mobile during class just to find out its true history, or go overseas to Greece and Italy to actually experience what you’ve read about? Honestly, I would have never entered the Honors Program if I would not have been automatically enrolled in it my freshman year. But the first day of class I knew that I had to stay. The electric professors are the first part that makes the Honors Program so dynamic. If you’re tired of your basic, boring, “here’s the facts, learn them” kind of teaching, I would recommend the Honors Program. If you want to be challenged, yet allowed to think for yourself, the Honors Program is for you. -Mary-Claire Byrd-
