nurse using a microscopeThe purpose of the baccalaureate nursing program is to prepare a beginning professional practitioner of nursing who is capable of utilizing the nursing process based upon appropriate theories.  The beginning professional practitioner of nursing functions as an initiator of primary care in meeting th needs of individuals, families, and groups.  The graduate will be able to assume the role of a leader of others in delegating nursing care, giving nursing care and using research finding in nursing.  The graduate should possess the willingness and the ability to continue professional growth by pursuing graduate education or life-long nursing study.

Admission Requirements and Application

For admission into the Baccalaureate program the student:

  1. Must have a 2.75 or better GPA and a 21 ACT.
  2. Complete with a C or better a minimum of 55 hours of specified curriculum courses including BIO 202, BIO 301, MA 110, NU 252, NU 301, and PSY 315 prior to entering clinical nursing.
  3. File an Application to Clinical Nursing between November 1 and April 1 prior to desired Fall admission.

RN to BSN Career Program

Associate degree nurses who wish to broaden their career opportunities may find our special one day per week schedule beneficial. Thirty hours of nursing credits may be validated. Nursing courses may be completed in three academic periods. Now nursing courses may be completed through the Center for Adult Programs in evening or weekend classes.

A plan for completing non-nursing courses will be individualized for each student.

Admission Requirements for Application

For admission to the RN-BSN program the student:

  1. Must have an unrestricted R.N. license.
  2. Must have completed a basic nursing program within the past three years or have practiced nursing for three of the last five years.
