Master of Business Administration Master of Arts in Education: Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Alternative Master’s Master of Arts in Religious Studies: Biblical/Theological and Marriage and Family Counseling The Office of Graduate Programs at the University of Mobile was established in 1984 to recognize the Universitys growing responsibilities as a center of higher learning and to provide an academic environment in which student academic growth could develop to the advantage of the student. In the years since 1984, the Universitys graduate programs have developed logically on the growing points of strong undergraduate schools and departments to meet the needs for professional competence beyond the baccalaureate degree. The Office of Graduate Programs is administered by a dean executing admissions policies determined by the Graduate Council composed of the deans from each of the four graduate programs: Business, Education, Christian Studies, and Nursing. The President and the Vice President for Academic Affairs serve as ex-officio members. Advisory members include the deans of the School of Leadership Development and the College of Arts and Sciences, the director of the Library and the Registrar. The Dean of Graduate Programs serves as the Chair of the Council. The purposes of the Graduate Council are to:
The graduate programs approved by the Council are taught by the University of Mobile faculty in each degree-granting school of the Universitys academic organization. The University of Mobile is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; telephone number 404 679-4501) to award Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees. The University holds membership with and is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The University, through its School of Business, is nationally accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs to offer the following business degrees: Bachelor of Science Degree with majors in Accounting, Business Administration, and Computer Information Systems; and the Master's of Business Administration Degree. The Associates, Bachelors and Masters degrees in nursing are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, NY 10006: telephone number (212 989-9393). The B.S.N. and A.D.N. nursing programs are approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Teacher education programs are approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. Personal commitment, creativity, and professional achievement of the faculty, staff, and students form the basis of the reputation of the University.
