Campus Events

There are a wide variety of events that take place on the University of Mobile campus including concerts, movies, Ultimate Frisbee, beach trips and much more. You’re sure to discover activities that will fit your interests and talents. Some of the traditions at the University of Mobile include:

  • Snowman Building Contest - Every year, teams of students gather in December to transform tons of snow into some of the most unique snow creations.
  • The Gala - This is a charity dance sponsored by the Student Government Association. All proceeds are donated to a local charity.
  • The Walk - A ceremonial walk across campus that formally begins the UM experience. Freshmen are formally inducted into the UM family by the President, faculty, current students, and alumni.
  • Urban Plunge - 7 cities, 48 hours, and aheart for ministry. “Plungers” look forward to the opportunity to participate in a short-term mission trip each semester. Fall trips minister to our local area and in the Spring students travel across the Southeast.
  • Christmas Tree Lighting - As the weather cools and the Fall semester is coming to a Christmas close, the UM family joins together for a time of fellowship, singing, and reflection in preparation for the Season. Hot chocolate, the story of Christ’s birth, and the singing of Christmas songs mark a special time each year.
  • Beat the Badgers - One of the longest standing traditions is this local rivalry. Every UM athletic team has one common goal - “Beat the Badgers!”
  • Turkey Bowl - The Iron Bowl has nothing on this action-packed afternoon flag-football game (and growing rivalry) between the women’s residence halls. Our male residents act as coaches and referees in this exciting Thanksgiving match-up.
  • Battleship Bash & Spring Formal - These fun events give students a chance to dress up and mingle with friends in exciting Mobile locations.
