ORANGE BEACH, Ala. -- Stacey Ward, Yuruby Alicart and Victoria Masters each belted homeruns to help lift NAIA defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Thomas University (14-1) to a five inning mercy-ruled 9-0 win over Brescia University.

Brescia’s Lindsey Hanor was charged with the loss as she surrendered nine runs on 10 hits.

Maribel Riera (2-for-2 with two runs scored) and Yuruby Alicart (2-for-2 with three RBIs) led the way for the Nighthawks who will finish out opening day play with a 7 p.m. game against 10 th-ranked Bacone College.
