| ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Denisse Fuenmayor was fantastico
as she erupted for six RBIs on 3-of-4 hitting to help lead her 2nd-ranked
University of Mobile Rams (15-4) to an 11-4 shelling of Faulkner University
(7-8) in the second round of the Golden Championship bracket of the Gulf
Coast Invitational held at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach,
Alabama. Fuenmayor quickly got things going for the Rams as she blasted a three-run home run off of Bethany Hoffner. From that point on the Rams never looked back as they scattered eight more runs over the next six innings. Brenda Box (4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI) and Sylvia Bedgood (2-for-4 with three runs scored) also helped lead the offensive juggernaut. Heather Daily went 1-for-3 with three runs scored and Rachael McClure hit a home run to help keep Faulkner's fight alive. UM's Anne McLean gave up four runs and three hits in five innings of work and super soph Kirby Baxter came in to finish up the job as she surrendered only one hit while striking out four. The Rams now must face home run-hitting Katelyn Griffin and her Houston Baptist Huskies in the Gulf Coast Invitational championship game. -30-
