
2004 Gulf Coast Invitational Top Stories
| ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Faulkner University (5-6) rallied from
a 3-0 deficit and broke open a 4-4 tie in the top of the sixth inning by
scoring three runs and securing a 7-6 come-from-behind victory over William
Woods (4-3) in the first round of pool play Friday afternoon at the Gulf
Coast Invitational in Orange Beach, Ala. Bethany Hoffner picked up the win in five innings of work and Heather Dailey went 2-for-4 from the plate including a triple as the Lady Eagles improve to 5-6 on the season. William Wood’s Kelly McClure went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI in a losing effort and Michelle Schaper also went 3-for-4 with an RBI of her own. The Lady Owls (4-3) fall to 0-1 in the tournament and will next be in action against co-host and second-ranked University of Mobile at 5 p.m. Faulkner is now 1-0 in tournament action and will take on the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma at 3 p.m. -30-
