2004 Gulf Coast Invitational Top Stories

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Houston Baptist University (8-1) defeated Lindsey Wilson College (4-6) 8-0 in a mercy-ruled six innings in game 12 of the Gulf Coast Invitational held in Orange Beach, Alabama.

The Houston Baptist Huskies were led Diana Rychlik (2-for-4), Kristin Godfrey (2-for-3 with two runs), and Torie Perry (2-for-3 with two runs scored) at the plate while Laura Hess owned the pitcher's circle. Hess struck out nine while giving up only two hits in six innings of work.

Hess's counterparts, Lindsey Wilson's Amanda Crowley and Pamela Simpson, didn't fair quite as well as they gave up a combined eight runs on 11 hits.

The Huskies will now play in perhaps the most exciting match-up of the night as they square off against 16th-ranked North Georgia, the same team that Lindsey Wilson will finish up pool play with on Saturday at 1 p.m.
