2004 Gulf Coast Invitational Top Stories

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Katelyn Griffin hit two home runs including a solo home run in the top of sixth inning breaking a 2-2 tie as Houston Baptist University won their second game of the day at the Gulf Coast Invitational beating North Georgia College & State University 3-2 Friday night in Orange Beach, Ala.

NGCSU took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back doubles and an RBI triple by Bronwyn Miller.

However, trailing 2-0, HBU inserted freshman pitcher Cheri Wood into the game.  Wood would finish the game going five innings allowing just three hits, no runs and punching out four batters in picking up the win.

HBU is now 2-0 in the tournament and will play again tomorrow, March 6 at 11 a.m. against Martin Luther College.

NGCSU drops to 1-1 in the tournament and will take on Lindsey Wilson College tomorrow, March 6 at 1 p.m.
