2004 Gulf Coast Invitational Top Stories

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The 11th-ranked Houston Baptist University Huskies (11-1) kept their Gulf Coast Invitational record unblemished (4-0) as they defeated the Lady Statesmen of William Penn College 5-0. The Huskies used a three-run fourth inning to put the game away as they advance in the Golden Championship bracket and will play Oklahoma City University at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Continuing her home run derby was Katelyn Griffin who sparked the three-run bottom of the fourth inning with a two-run dinger. The shot gives her four for the weekend.

Torie Perry got things started for Houston Baptist with an RBI single that drove in Kelly Majewski who had walked to leadoff the second inning.

Laura Hess had another solid outing as she picked up the win with a five strikeout and four hit complete game shutout.

William Penn (3-3) will play North Georgia College and State University at 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
