
2004 Gulf Coast Invitational Top Stories
| ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Lindsey Wilson College (4-5) scored
three runs in the first inning and two more in the second en route to a 6-0
victory over Martin Luther College in round one of pool play Friday
afternoon at the Gulf Coast Invitational in Orange Beach, Ala.
Ginny Long had two doubles and 3 RBI to lead the way for Lindsey who led wire-to-wire in the contest. Kristen Philpotts pitched four innings allowing just two hits and striking out three in picking up the win. LeighAnn Collins stuck out two in her two innings of work and didn’t allow a hit. Leigh Ann Oakley closed out the game with one inning of work allowing no hits. Lindsey Wilson improves to 1-0 in the tournament and will next be in action at 5 p.m. when they square off against Houston Baptist University in round two of pool play. Rachel Hering went the distance for Martin Luther giving up three earned runs and nine hits in seven innings of work. Martin Luther will immediately begin their second game at 3 p.m. when they take on North Georgia College & State University in round two of pool play. -30-
