2004 Gulf Coast Invitational Top Stories

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Spring Hill College scored all the runs they would need in the bottom of the fifth and starting pitcher Alicia Perry was just three outs away from a no-hitter as the Badgers knocked off Culver-Stockton College 3-0 Saturday afternoon in the final game of pool play action at the Gulf Coast Invitational played in Orange Beach, Ala.

Perry, who took a no-hitter into the top of the seventh, gave up just the one hit and one walk in seven strong innings of work striking out four and picking up the complete game shut-out.

Amy Daigle was 3-for-4 from the plate and started the fifth inning rally with a single leading off the inning.  She would later go on to score the game-winning run and Spring Hill padded their stats by tacking on two more pushing their lead out to 3-0.

Spring Hill finishes pool play a perfect 3-0 and has been named the number two seed in the Gold Bracket.  They will face the University of Mobile, the seventh seed, tonight at 7 p.m.

Culver-Stockton finishes pool play action at 0-3 and will be seeded as the number seven seed in the silver bracket.  They will face University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma tonight at 5 p.m.
