| ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Spring Hill College rallied for four
runs in the bottom of the sixth inning all with two outs and held on for a
4-2 victory over Oklahoma City University Friday night in the Gulf Coast
Invitational played in Orange Beach, Ala. With two outs and facing a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning, Spring Hill's Danielle DeLeon doubled to center field driving in Dana Kelly from second base tying the game at 1-all. Not to be outdone, Alicia Perry followed DeLeon's double with one of her own scoring DeLeon from second base and giving Spring Hill a 2-1 lead. Finally, Jessica Weltin, who was 2-for-3 in the game, slammed a two-run homer deep over the left field wall extending Spring Hill's lead to 4-1. In the top of the seventh, Oklahoma City brought the tying run to the plate before Valerie Ricketts recorded the final out of the game. Ricketts went the distance giving up just one earned run on four hits while striking out eight in picking up the victory. Spring Hill finished the day at 2-0 in pool play and will face Culver-Stockton College, tomorrow, Saturday, March 6 at 1 p.m. in final Pool 3 action before reseeding begins. Oklahoma City falls to 1-1 in the tournament after defeating Culver-Stockton College 6-1 earlier in the day. The Lady Stars will play Southern Wesleyan tomorrow, Saturday, March 6 at 11 a.m. in final Pool 3 action before reseeding begins. -30-
