ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Despite a late fifth inning rally by the Lady Cavaliers of St. Gregory’s University (7-7), the Nighthawks of Thomas University staved off the attack to win 8-4 in game 14 of the Gulf Coast Invitational held at the Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Alabama. After cutting the Nighthawks’ lead to one, Thomas University turned St. Greg’s rally caps back around as they scored three runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

At the plate Venezuelan native Yuruby Alicart broke out the fat bat as she went 2-for-4 with three RBIs while scoring two runs. She was joined by Stephanie Dixon (2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored) and Nicole Criste (2-for-4 with two RBIs) to help improve Thomas University’s record to 13-1 overall.

Canadian native, Cathy Andrijaszyn, owned the circle as she pitched a complete game for the Nighthawks while giving up eight hits and three earned runs.
