| ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Second seeded University of Science
and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) defeated seventh seeded Culver-Stockton College
7-4 Saturday night in the opening round of silver bracket play at the Gulf
Coast Invitational played in Orange Beach, Ala. Kristin Minton clobbered two, two-run home runs and drove in four RBI for the Drovers who improve to 2-2 in tournament play. With the ballgame scoreless in the first inning, Minton connected on a pitch and sent it deep and out of the ballpark giving USAO a 2-0 lead. Later in the game with the Drovers only ahead by a run, Minton again connected for a two-run homer giving USAO a commanding 7-4 lead and putting the game out of reach. Kindra Gregory picked up the win for USAO in three innings of relief. Gregory worked the fourth through the sixth inning allowing no runs on only one hit while striking out three and earning the victory. With the loss, Culver-Stockton is eliminated from the tournament. USAO advances on to face third seeded Lindsey Wilson College who defeated Southern Wesleyan University 6-1 in other action tonight. The game will be played tomorrow, Sunday, March 7, at 9 a.m. -30-
