2004 Gulf Coast Invitational Top Stories

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) (18-4-1) lives to fight one more game with a 7-0 win over Lindsey Wilson College (5-8) in the second round of the Silver Championship bracket of the Gulf Coast Invitational held at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Alabama. The loss eliminates Lindsey Wilson from the invitational in which they went 2-3.

The Drovers of USAO got things going in the top of the second inning as Morgan Skelley scored on a sacrifice RBI by Crystal Judkins.

Alissa Cordes got the RBI single in the third to bring in Alana Hare who was pinch-running for Kindra Gregory.

Alissa Cordes had the hot bat as she went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and one run scored. Morgan Skelley (1-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored), Dana Askins (2-for-4 with one run scored) and Kindra Gregory (2-for-4 with two runs scored) also helped lead the Drovers scoring attack.

Senior Jamie Pendley owned the pitcher's circle as she surrendered only two hits, walked one batter and struck out five in a complete game shutout.

Lindsey Wilson's Leigh Ann Collins and Pamela Simpson were not as fortunate as they combined to allow seven runs on ten hits.

The Drovers will now face St. Gregory's University at 11 a.m. for the Silver Bracket championship.
