2004 Gulf Coast Invitational Top Stories

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - North Georgia College and State University (9-4) scored four runs in the second and third innings en route to defeating William Penn College (3-4) 8-2 in the final day of action of the Gulf Coast Invitational held at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Alabama.

With Bronwyn Miller on base in the second inning, Annie Ball blasted a two-run home run to get things rolling for the Lady Saints. Miller was a perfect 3-for-3 as she finished with two RBIs and two runs scored including the one off of Ball's home run.

Laura Thomas (2-for-4 with one run scored) and Brooke Kesler (1-for-3 with one RBI) also helped lead the Lady Saints to a consolation finale with Thomas University at 1 p.m.

North Georgia's Beth Willis got the win as she struck out seven while scattering three hits in seven innings of work.

Steph Christner (2-for-4) and Becky Steinbacker (1-for-3) each scored a run for William Penn who is now eliminated from the invitational.
