Orso Earns Conference Honor
MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile's Kevin Orso was named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week, for the week ending February 17th.
The Rams went 4-0 on the week and currently sit at 11-3, awaiting a 3-game series at home versus Spring Hill College this weekend.
Kevin Orso dominated, recording a hit in each game, and 3 hits in all but 1 game as Mobile swept the week's action.
In the non-conference opener, Orso hit a 2-out, 2-run inside-the-park homer in the bottom of the 6th to give his team an 8-7 lead, which they would hold to beat Stillman College. Orso then struck again in the opener against GCAC foe Belhaven with a 2-out Grand Slam in the 3rd to go ahead 4-0.
The junior then went a combined 6-11 in the final 2 games with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored to help pace the offense. He has 4 home runs on the season. The Satsuma native slugged .800 and batted .500 on the week with 9 RBI and 6 runs scored.
Orso and the Rams host Spring Hill for a noon double header Saturday and a 2:00 game on Sunday to finish the series. |
