Bracewell Pitches Rams Past the Badgers
MOBILE, Ala—Justin Bracewell dominated on the mound and the Rams jacked two more long balls to finish the 3-game sweep of visiting Spring Hill by a 9-0 score Sunday afternoon.
Bracewell (4-1) took a no-hitter into the 8th inning, before Tyler Moberg broke it up with a 1-out single to left-center. Bracewell, an Andalusia native, cruised all game long, allowing only 5 balls out of the infield on his way to twirling the 3-hit complete game.
The Rams, meanwhile, gave the senior righty plenty of run-support thanks to a pair of homers. Daine Solomon hit a 3-run bomb as part of a 4-run 4th inning, and Carlos Romero followed an inning later with a 2-run jack to right field.
In the 9-inning masterpiece, Bracewell faced only 2 batters over the minimum to move the Rams to 12-0 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play.
At the plate, Nelson Curry went 3-for-4, Romero finished 3-for-3 with 4 runs scored, and Solomon finished 2-for-4 with the 3-run homer. Jared Baria added a 2-hit day for the Rams’ attack.
Mobile (14-3, 12-0) next plays at Southeastern Louisiana University Wednesday, February 27th at 6:30 pm.

Rams Finish Double Header Sweep of Rivals
MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile baseball team remained unbeaten in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action by taking down rival Spring Hill College 4-3 in game 2 of Saturday’s double header.
The Badgers led 3-2 through 7 innings thanks to a trio of Mobile errors and 7 innings of 2-run ball from ace Nick Clapper.
But, the Rams finally broke through in the final 2 innings thanks to some clutch at bats. With 1 out in the 8th, center fielder Carlos Romero smashed a solo homer to right field to chase Clapper and tie the game at 3-3.
Then, the Rams posted more magic in the 9th, as a single and stolen base from Daine Solomon set the stage for Brett Barber to be a hero, and Barber obliged. The Daphne native stroked a pitch from Mario Garcia into the left-center gap for the walk-off RBI single to plate Solomon and give the Rams a 4-3 win.
Scott Mitchell picked up the win with .2 innings of scoreless ball out of the pen. Stephen Stork paced the Rams at the plate with a 3-for-4 afternoon, while Romero and Solomon each went 2-for-4 on the day.
Javiar Cherta went 2-for-3 for the Badgers, while Jared Bonvillian and Tom Connors added 2 hits apiece for Spring Hill.
Mobile moves to 13-3 overall and 11-0 in GCAC action.
