Bracewell Named GCAC Pitcher of the Week

MOBILE, Ala-- The early returns on Justin Bracewell moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation continue to be very good.

The 6-1 righty from Andalusia was named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending February 24th. The honor is the second of the young season for Bracewell.

In the week's action, the senior got only 1 start, but he made the most of it by dominating the visiting Spring Hill College Badgers and flirting with a no-hitter. Bracewell took the ball in the finale of last weekend's GCAC series against Spring Hill and faced only 2 batters over the minimum while taking a no-no into the 8th inning, before a 1-out single broke it up.

Bracewell (4-1) went the distance in the game and allowed only 5 balls to be hit out of the infield, while fanning 3 Badger hitters and limiting the visitors to only 3 hits.

The Rams are 14-3 overall and an impressive 12-0 in GCAC play, two games ahead of 2nd place LSU-Shreveport. Mobile plays at NCAA-affiliate Southeastern Louisiana University Wednesday night and then travels to Tougaloo for a 3-game set this weekend.
