16th-Ranked Rams Stomp NCAA Div I Foe HAMMOND, Louis-- The newly-ranked Rams traveled to NCAA-Div I foe Southeastern University and walked away with a 13-1 victory. Mobile got a complete game effort from Zack Mann in only his second start of the season, and the Rams' bats capitalized on 8 Lion errors to provide plenty of offense. Mann scattered 8 hits over the 9 innings, walked 1 and struck out 1. After the two teams had battled to a 1-1 tie through 4.5 innings of play, the game changed over the next frame. SELU loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the 5th, but Mann worked out of the jam thanks to a couple of pop outs to set his team up with new life. The Rams took advantage of that momentum shift and plated a pair of runs in the top of the 6th when David Cramblitt and Kevin Orso went back-to-back with a double and a triple. From there, Mann remained in a groove and the Lion pitchers (and defense) settled down heading into the 9th. That's when the wheels came off for the home team and the hitting shoes went on for #16 Mobile. The Lions booted the ball around to the tune of 5 errors in the frame, and the Rams batted around on their way to a 10-run frame to cement the game. Daine Solomon stroked a RBI single and RBI double, Stephen Stork collected a 2-run single and Jared Baria smacked a 2-run triple to the opposite field to do the bulk of the damage. Mobile (15-3, 12-0) travels to Jackson, MS to face GCAC foe Tougaloo College for a 3-game set this weekend. The two teams will do battle in a 2:00 game on Friday and finish with a 1:00 double header on Saturday. Rams Ranked 16th... The NAIA released the first Top-25 poll since the preseason edition Wednesday, and the Rams jumped all the way up to #16 in the poll. After not receiving votes in the preseason poll, the Rams have gone 14-3 and picked up 211 votes, 4 votes shy of Wayland Baptist University. Mobile has swept the field thus far in the GCAC to go 12-0 and move into 1st place in the conference standings. For more information on the poll or anything else NAIA related go HERE.
