Rams Roll Over Bulldogs in Series Opener
JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile baseball team traveled to Jackson, MS to take on Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe Tougaloo College Friday, and the Rams cruised to their 16th victory of the year by a score of 10-1.
Mobile (16-3, 13-0) had everything clicking to take the opener against the Bulldogs. Senior Jesse Luker (4-0) limited the Bulldog bats to 4 hits in 8 innings on the mound, while fanning 5.
The bulk of the offense came from the bats of Kevin Orso and David Cramblitt. Orso mashed his way to a 4-for-4 afternoon, while Cramblitt went 3-for-5 with a pair of long balls and four knocked in. Cramblitt, a Theodore native, now holds the team lead with 6 homers on the season.
The 16th-ranked Rams finish the series with a noon double header Saturday. The victory is the 5th in a row for Mobile and 13th victory in the last 14 games, with only a 5-3 setback to Faulkner University preventing the 14-game win streak.
Luker's 4 wins ties him for the team lead with Justin Bracewell. Cramblitt's 6 bombs have come in the last 10 games, starting with homers in each of the first two games at Belhaven College.
