16th-Ranked Rams Fall To #12 Tennessee Wesleyan
Game 2:
After the 16th-ranked University of Mobile baseball team dropped an 11-10 slugfest to #12 Tennessee Wesleyan in the opener of Wednesday’s double header, the Rams fell in a more traditional manner in the finale, losing 5-2.
The Rams managed 11 hits, but the pitching duo of Travis McDaniel and Jon Swartout combined to hold Mobile’s potent offense to only a pair of tallies. Daine Solomon provided a RBI double in the 3rd and Brett Barber had a run-scoring hit in the 6th.
In the 6th, a 2-out, 2-run single from Matt Gray gave the Bulldogs some cushion, moving a 2-1 lead to a 4-1 edge. Carlos Romero went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Rams, while Matthew Sparks went 2-for-3.
Mobile drops to 18-5 and next plays this weekend when GCAC foe LSU-Shreveport visits for a 3-game series. The two teams will play one game Friday at 2:00 and then finish with a noon double header Saturday.
