Rams split pair of games with Tennessee
Wesleyan
MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Mobile baseball team (18-4) split
a pair of games with No. 12-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan College Tuesday
afternoon at home winning the first game, 9-3 and dropping the second
game of the twin bill, 8-1.
In the opener, Leeland Howard picked up the win going four innings,
allowing six hits, and two earned runs while striking out seven batters.
At the plate, the Rams erupted for three runs in the bottom of the first
inning and picked up four more in the bottom of the third inning to take
a commanding 7-1 lead.
In the first inning, Carnell Parker walked to start the game, quickly
stole second and scored on a Josh Banashak double. Parker finished the
game going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. Banashak would
eventually come around to score on a sac fly by Lance Howard to put the
Rams ahead 2-0. Next, Brian Mosley singled, stole second and scored on
Eduardo Davilla’s RBI double.
Banashak, who went 2-for-3 in the game, led off the third with his second
consecutive double and came around to score on Lance Howard’s home
run. Howard went 2-for-4 in the game with three RBI’s.
In the second game, the Rams fell behind early as Wesleyan scored one
run in the top of the first and added four more in the second to take
a 5-0 lead. Jason Ragan was credited with the loss, going just 1.2 innings
while allowing five runs on five hits and walking three.
The Rams got just three hits in the game as they lost for only the fourth
time this season.
The rubber match of the series will conclude tomorrow at 1 p.m. on the
University of Mobile campus.
