Rams Baseball Sweeps Double-Header With 24th-Ranked Faulkner University

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Mobile baseball team (7-14) will take on conference-leading William Carey College riding a seven-game winning after today’s double-header sweep of 24th-ranked Faulkner University. The Rams exploded with a ten-run bottom of the sixth inning to win the first game 12-2 and then came back to win 3-1 in the night cap.

With the score tied 2-2, bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Faulkner centerfielder Brent Cleveland lost a deep shot by UM’s Paul Kerger in the sun. Three runs were immediately scored and the Rams went on to score seven more en route to winning in a mercy-ruled six innings.

Ricardo Rolle (2-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored), Jud McWain (2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs), and Josh Banashak (2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI) helped lead the Rams to the first game win.

Leland Howard picked up the win, surrendering only two hits and one earned run in six innings of work.

In the nightcap the Rams snapped a 1-1 tie on a Ricardo Rolle RBI single that scored Tim Watson. Jud McWain doubled to bring in Seth Naugle and Mobile pitcher Jarred Stubbs went three up and three down in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Stubbs pitched a complete game, giving up three hits and one earned run while striking out five in seven innings.

The Rams hit the road for Hattiesburg, Miss. as they take on conference leader, William Carey College, for a weekend three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
